Outward Bound Scholarships

Aim

The aim of this scholarship is to provide two young people, who have a parent or caregiver affected by MS, with the opportunity to attend an Outward Bound course within the year of the scholarship being awarded.

Who is Eligible?

Those aged 16–26 who have a parent or caregiver who has MS. The parent or caregiver does not have to be a member of an MS Regional Society. The applicant need not be living with the parent or caregiver at the time of the application.

Criteria

The scholarship is designed to provide an opportunity for a young person to attend a Classic or MBS course at Outward Bound.

At the time of the application for the scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Have a parent or caregiver affected by MS;
  • Be a NZ Citizen or NZ Permanent Resident;
  • Be wanting to attend a course at Outward Bound.

The applicant should also:

  • Demonstrate a strong sense of community value;
  • Demonstrate an empathy toward others within the community;
  • Significantly benefit from attending a course at Outward Bound.

Scholarships

Two scholarships will be awarded, equally funded by the MS Society and Outward Bound.

Closing Date for all applications is Friday 4 April 2009

Applicants will need to include the Scholarship Application form signed by their Doctor or MS Field Worker.
