MSNZ’s ability to support people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) across Aotearoa New Zealand is strengthened by strong partnerships and the generous support of our funders. Working closely with a wide range of organisations and individuals, we deliver vital services, advance research, and advocate for the needs of the MS community.
Support from our partners and funders enables Multiple Sclerosis NZ to:
- Expand our reach and provide more comprehensive support to the MS community.
- Advance and share research and knowledge about MS causes, treatments, and best practice.
- Advocate effectively for policy changes and improved funding ensuring the voice of the MS community is heard and considered.
- Deliver innovative programmes that make a real difference in the lives of people living with MS.
Key Partners
Regional MS Societies:
MSNZ collaborates with 18 regional MS societies, ensuring local support and services are available throughout the country.
International MS Organisations:
With connections across the globe, we work closely with other MS organisations to enhance global messages, share knowledge and resources to further our common goals.
Health and Disability Organisations and Alliances:
We work with a range of other community based neurological, disability and carer support organisations both individually and through alliances on issues which impact our collective communities. Working collaboratively we can strengthen and louden our messages on issues of common concern.Our role is to ensure the voices of people with MS are heard in national conversations about policy decisions, services, funding and support.
Health Care Professionals:
We have developed strong relationships with specialist MS Neurological and Allied healthcare professionals across Aotearoa. Working alongside our specialist advisors we ensure that our calls to action are evidence based and will be well supported.
Research Institutions
We partner with universities, research organisations including the New Zealand Multiple Sclerosis Research Trust, and international research networks to promote and support MS research in New Zealand.

The Community
Incredible individuals, families, and community groups who are passionate about our mission and supporting our work, contribute through donations, leaving gifts in wills, fundraising events, and campaigns.
Business and Corporate Partners:
Many businesses provide support through sponsorships, fundraising, and workplace giving, helping us raise awareness and funds for our work. Collaborating with partners and funders enables Multiple Sclerosis NZ to continue to improve the lives of people affected by MS across Aotearoa New Zealand. Trusts and Foundations
Generous grants from charitable trusts and foundations help fund specific projects, research, and initiatives. A special thanks to the following funders for their support of our work in last year:
Government Contract:
Multiple Sclerosis NZ holds a national Disability Information and Advisory Services contract with the Ministry of Social Development. This contract is shared with our member organisations. The portion retained by Multiple Sclerosis NZ for information services funds less than 4% of our annual budget.
Pharmaceutical Companies
We partner with pharmaceutical companies who are passionate about improving outcomes for people with MS in Aotearoa. We receive grants for condition related educational programs and research projects. Pharma’s have no influence over Multiple Sclerosis NZs work, views, priorities or the projects they provide funding towards. Thank you to the following companies for their commitment to our mission:
Volunteers
Our achievements wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our volunteers. Volunteers dedicate their valuable time and skills in all areas of our organisation.
Government Funding:
MSNZ and regional societies receive funding from government sources to support core services, advocacy, and community programmes.
Trusts and Foundations:
Grants from charitable trusts and foundations help fund specific projects, research, and initiatives. Examples include Lottery National Community Grants, The Dorothy L Newman Charitable Trust, The Southern Trust, and the Society of Mary Trust Board.
Corporate Sponsors:
Businesses such as Roche Products (NZ) Limited, Merck Healthcare Pty Ltd., Sanofi New Zealand, Biogen NZ Biopharma Limited, and others provide financial support and in-kind donations.
Community Fundraisers:
Individuals, families, and community groups contribute through fundraising events, donations, and campaigns.
Legacy Giving:
Gifts left in wills and other planned giving options provide long-term support for MSNZ’s work.
