The recent Ride for MS cycling fundraising event in Cambodia has been an incredible triumph, combining adventure, community spirit, and a shared commitment to making a difference for people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Six Riders, One Mission

Six passionate participants, supported by their dedicated guides, took on the challenge of cycling through the stunning landscapes of Cambodia. Their goal? To raise awareness of MS and generate vital funds to support those affected across New Zealand. And they delivered beyond expectations!

Who Took Part?

  • 3 riders from MS South Canterbury
  • 1 rider from MS Gisborne
  • 2 riders connected to MSNZ National Office

This diverse team represented the strength and unity of our MS community nationwide.

Fundraising That Went the Extra Mile

The riders didn’t just pedal – they worked tirelessly to raise funds through their networks of friends, family, and the wider public. Their creativity and dedication shone through with initiatives such as:

  • Selling wood, raffle tickets, and muffins
  • Hosting quiz nights
  • Auctioning handcrafted items made from Vereana and Sean’s elm tree wood

These efforts, combined with the generosity of supporters, helped us achieve an outstanding fundraising result.

Roxy’s Remarkable Determination

One of the most inspiring stories from this event comes from Roxy, a participant from MS South Canterbury who lives with MS. Just days before the trip, Roxy experienced a relapse – a challenge that would have stopped many in their tracks. But through sheer determination and strength, she pushed forward, joined the team in Cambodia, and completed the ride. Her courage is a testament to the resilience of those living with MS and the power of community support. Read Roxy’s story here.

Celebrating Our Artists

We also want to acknowledge the incredible artists who generously donated their handcrafted items for auction. Their creativity and generosity added a unique touch to our fundraising efforts. If you’d like to purchase beautiful handcrafted pieces from these talented artists, please get in touch with MSNZ – your support continues to make a difference.

More Than Just a Ride

This event was about more than cycling. It was about connection, awareness, and hope. Every kilometer ridden and every dollar raised brings us closer to improving the lives of those living with MS in New Zealand.

We are incredibly proud of each and every participant for their commitment, creativity, and perseverance. Your efforts make a real difference.
