People with multiple sclerosis (MS) often experience challenges in the workforce. Living with MS does not mean you have to stop working. Many people with MS continue to work for years after their diagnosis, making valuable contributions to their workplaces.

The Dorothy L Newman Scholarship assists people diagnosed with MS who are unable to continue in their current job, require retraining or upskilling to change career pathways and enhance their chances of securing future paid employment. People like Sarah, who received the scholarship in 2025 and describes it as “a light in my journey with MS” – now halfway through her studies, volunteering at an arts therapy centre, and feeling motivated to reach her goal.
