Join our National Executive Committee and make a real difference across Aotearoa – 2 Emerging Member Positions
Multiple Sclerosis New Zealand is seeking two passionate young voices to join our National Executive Committee for a transformative two-year governance experience.
Why This Matters
MS increasingly affects young New Zealanders, with the average diagnosis age now at 38. Following the success of our inaugural Emerging Committee Members, we’re committed to ensuring the voices of younger people with lived MS experience help guide our national direction.
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on exposure to not-for-profit governance
- Direct influence on MSNZ services and strategic development
- Meaningful contribution to your community and generation
- Development opportunities at the beginning of your governance journey
Who We’re Looking For
You should:
- Be in the early stages of your governance journey
- Have a genuine connection to MS (personal diagnosis, family member, or close friend)
- Be able to represent the perspectives of younger people impacted by MS
- Be ready to engage fully as a committee member
The Role
While Emerging Committee Members don’t have voting rights at AGMs and SGMs, our Committee operates by consensus. You’ll contribute to all governance discussions and decisions as a full participant. These voluntary positions include reimbursement of expenses.
What Happens Next
Successful appointees will serve a two-year term, with potential pathways to continue as an Independent or Co-opted Member afterwards (subject to vacancies and skills alignment—though this isn’t guaranteed).
